Pick Your Dip
There are plenty of dipmazing (we're sure that word will catch on) options. Dip them in beeswax to preserve their natural hues. Go glam with glitter or metallic gold paint. Or, if you prefer a pop of color, try vibrant paints in a rainbow of shades. For a more refined finish, you can even dip them in plaster. Then, once you're done dipping, pick your project and let the fall fabulousness begin!
Dipped Decor
Hang a dipped-leaf garland over a dessert table, in an archway or on a banister as a festive decoration for your next fall gathering. At Thanksgiving, gather your friends and family and write what you're thankful for on the leaves.
You Need:
- Long, fairly straight, stick or branch
- Assorted leaves, dipped (enough to fill the length of your stick)
- Raffia or twine
- Optional: hot glue, hole punch
Directions:
- Attach raffia or twine to leaves by tying it around leaf stem or by punching a hole near leaf base and threading through.
- Attach other end of raffia to twig at varying lengths. Secure with hot glue, if needed.
Dipped Gift Tags
Add fall flair to your next hostess gift or birthday present with dipped-leaf gift tags. You can write their name or your special message right on the leaf.
You Need:
- Assorted leaves, dipped
- Raffia or twine
- Optional: black marker
Directions:
- Attach raffia or twine to leaves by tying it around leaf stem or by punching a hole near leaf base and threading through.
- Wrap raffia around your gift.
- Use black marker to write "to" and "from" or add your own special message.
Dipped Table Setting
Dip leaves to match your fall table setting color scheme. Tie it all together by working leftover dipped leaves into your table's centerpiece. They also make great Thanksgiving place cards. Stamp "I am thankful for" on one leaf and write the person's name on the other to let them know how glad you are that they're part of your celebration.
You Need:
- 2 leaves per place setting, dipped
- "Thankful" stamp
- Dark-colored marker
Directions:
- Stamp "Thankful" message on one of the leaves.
- Write name of person sitting at that spot on the other leaf.
- Layer leaves on top of place settings.
